3/3 came to this area in late 1966 and leaving in late September 1967, when we moved Northeast to the Leatherneck Square area. Only to return here in the middle of 1968 and finally leaving in September 1969.
While here 3/3 participated in numerous operations, which included Prairie 1, 2 & 3 along with the Hill Fights at Khe Sanh and a few others down south near An Hoa. Significant terrain includes The Rockpile, the Razor Back, Mutters Ridge and Dong Ha Mountain.
Enemy contact ranged from light to Very Heavy as the mountainous area provided great concealment for the NVA. The red stars are heavy enemy contact, while the red circles were base camps of either permanent or mobile status.
