I wanted to let everyone know about this very impressive special collector’s item available via our PX, which is arranged by Marine Corps Active Wear & Gifts (Vince Martinez, H/S 1966). These are a limited run, with the 1st 100 a sell-out.  Vince is putting together an order for 50 more, and needs advance orders to fill requirements.  I’ve received my first 7, and have 10 more ordered … as gifts.  And thanks to Vince’s generosity, a percentage of each sale supports the 3/3 Newsletter.                              Doc

Some things never change

I don't really give a rat's hind end for the blue side of the Navy. I managed seven years without stepping on ship. I wore green the entire time.   …

Here are a couple of our sick-call retorts:

"You just sit right there and nice Doc will poor you a hot cup of Suck it the Hell UP!",         or

"If you’re going to be stupid, you gotta be tough".

We may give them hell but they will always be OUR Marines. We may be the maintenance tech on killing machines but they are only on loan from us to the CMC.

What a Bargain!

Three old Marines and an old FMF Corpsman are walking down the street. When they see a sign that says "Veterans Bar," they go in. The bartender asks what they will have and they all ask for a martini.

He delivers the drinks and says, "That will be 40 cents."  They can't believe their good luck.
They finish the drinks and order another round and the bartender again says, "That will be 40 cents."

This whets their curiosity, so they ask the bartender, "How can you afford to serve martinis for a dime apiece?"

The bartender replies, "I guess you've seen the decor here. Well, I am a retired Navy Master Chief and I always wanted to own a bar. Last year I hit the lottery for $45 million and decided to open this place for real veterans. Every drink costs a dime -- wine, liquor, beer all the same."

They notice four guys at the end of the bar who haven't ordered anything.   They ask, "What's with them?"

The bartender says "Oh, those are retired Sgt Majors, they’re waiting for Happy Hour!"

http://www.33usmc.com/0NewsLtr/NwsLtr.htmlThis newsletter is supported basically from donations and from the net sales of our 3/3 Coins.  It is mailed out 3 times per year to currently over 2,100 of our 3/3 alumni who do not have Internet access.  There is no compensation for printer costs or computers, etc.  All funds are only used for basic costs of paper, inks, envelopes and postage.  No one is compensated one dime for their efforts.  3/3 RVN Ass’n and ThirdMarines.net have NO dues (we all paid those long ago!). 3/3 RVN Ass’n Reunions are supported independently.

If you have online access, and email, please let us know so that we can control our mailing list and keep a handle on costs.  The online version is identical to the printed version, and issues will be archived and available online as is feasible.

I hope you enjoy our efforts, and please contact us for info on old comrades that you may wish to get in touch with.  We are locating more every day, and would love to be able to send out a roster to everyone… however, there are more than 5,025 in contact at this writing (01/07/2007), and the list grows daily.  Too big to print, and it is updated daily.
Call, e-mail or write Doc Hoppy for a specific individual(s). Additionally, we may be able to provide documentation to assist with VA Claims, or obtain un-awarded PH’s.  We have documented over 3,400 individual Purple Hearts, 660 who were KIA with 3/3 (or subsequent units), and have documented over 1,000 who are known deceased since Nam.
That last group is growing all too quickly.
We have Final Muster pages posted, and they are updated as info is received.
