"I now know why men who have been to war yearn to reunite. Not to tell stories or look at old pictures. Not to laugh or weep. Comrades gather because they long to be with the men who once acted at their best; men who suffered and sacrificed, who were stripped of their humanity. I did not pick these men. They were delivered by fate and the military. But I know them in a way I know no other men. I have never given anyone such trust. They were willing to guard something more precious than my life. They would have carried my reputation, the memory of me. It was part of the bargain we all made, the reason we were so willing to die for one another. As long as I have my memory, I will think of them all, every day. I am sure that when I leave this world, my last thought will be of my family and my comrades … Such good men."

Welcome to 33USMC.com
The locator site of the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines. This is a veterans site, dedicated to the brotherhood of Marines, Corpsmen, Doctors and Chaplains who have served in 3/3.
This is not an official USMC site. It is a gathering place for those who served in the past; a conduit for them to reaffirm the camaradarie shared so long ago, and a dignified vehicle to remember those who gave their lives in service to our nation.
Welcome Home to our men and to their families, and the families of our alumni who have reached their final muster.
January 14, 2017 Doc Rod Hardin passed away 1/13/17 having endured cancer for 7 years. Rod was our most successful "grunt hunter", having located over 3,500 of our 3/3 Vietnam alumni. After being located he never failed to attend reunions and relished opportunities to join together with his USMC/USN brothers. Our condolences to Doc Jones.
You are cordially invited to attend the 75th Anniversary Ceremony of 3d Battalion, 3d Marines.
The ceremony will be held at0930-1030, 31 May 2017 at the Base Theater, Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
As many of you know, the Battalion was first activated 1 June 1942 at New River, North Carolina as 5th Training Battalion before it was redesignated as 3d Battalion, 3d Marines several days later. So, we have reached 75 years since then, and it is time to honor those that have been a part of creating the tremendous history of this great Battalion. For those that will be unable to attend, we will post pictures on our 3/3 Facebook page.
LtCol Steven J. Eastin, USMC 3d Battalion, 3d Marines
